Fanny Jenkins' parents came to Winsford from Brendon in 1905, to Edbrook Mill. People brought their apples to be made into cider and her father sang in the evenings as he ground the corn for the cattle. He had a beautiful voice. Fanny is musical as well, and she loved acting.
Her husband Ted came from Port Sunlight to work at the pub and swept her off her feet with his plans for the wedding. She says it has been a laugh all her life. Her cousin, Maud, was bridesmaid. Ted was a gifted builder and they bought the shop, Karslake, and turned it into a guest house and tearoom. It was wartime and some people stayed for years. One of the guests' chauffeurs told her he was the first person to drive a motor car over Dunkery in 1912. Even now, visitors still keep in touch.
