BIRDIE JOHNSON

Birdie Johnson was brought up on a remote farm on Exmoor and has lived there for many years. A firm believer in the importance of oral history, and particularly of the spoken word, she started recording people's life stories some time ago. She has found producing this archive to be a privilege and an extraordinary experience; one which will stay with her for the rest of her life.

She specialises in recording people for members of their own family.  If you would like to know more, please contact her at  lifestories@cloveruk.net

MARK J RATTENBURY

Photographer Mark Rattenbury has lived in Devon for most of his life. His work has varied, from press photography for publications like the Guardian to documenting a busy A & E department. He has also worked with the Beaford Arts Centre to create a photographic study of a rural farming community. His photography stems from a passionate interest in people and the issues which affect their lives. This journey around Exmoor is the fulfilment of a long-held desire to photograph a landscape through the people who reside there.

Hand printed photographs from the archive are available to order. Please contact Mark Rattenbury at mark@life-images.co.uk. Tel (01625) 777573.
